Istanbul Lip Flip – Botox for Lips

It is a simple and comparatively more affordable method, applied in a short time, for patients who do not want lip filler and who want only a slight change in their lips.

How it is performed

A lip flip consists of an injection of an average of 3–4 units of botox into the area where the orbicularis muscle meets the border of the lip (vermillion). Botox takes effect by weakening this part of the orbicularis muscle, allowing the lips to lift slightly.

Advantages

Because it is done with a superficial injection, it is practical and comfortable. Bruising is almost never expected, and since no volume is added to the lip it does not cause any swelling. While lifting the lip, it also reduces the lines above the lip and gives a smoother appearance. For patients who are particularly concerned that lip filler will be noticeable, it preserves a natural lip appearance by creating a slight lifting effect without changing the shape of the lip.

Disadvantages

With the lip flip method, a very marked change such as that of lip filler should not be expected. For people who do want a marked increase in lip volume, lip filler will be the better option. Its effect is also shorter than that of lip filler. In some patients, the weakening of the orbicularis muscle can make it difficult to drink through a straw in particular, but this is temporary.

Prices

Compared with lip filler, the lip flip procedure is generally more affordable in terms of cost. In my practice, the fee for a lip flip is around 80 euros.
